About The SUCCESS Project

Most poor people I know are proud and really want not a handout but a hand up. They do have an inherent pride and dignity, and we should treat them as those who have fallen on bad days. - Desmond Tutu

The SUCCESS Project, Inc. (TSP) is a 501(c)3 affiliate of the Havre de Grace Housing Authority and was established in 2015.

Our vision is a world where all people have the opportunity to maximize their potential and improve the quality of their life, so our programs support and empower low-income individuals, families and at-risk youth in order to help them improve the quality of their lives.

HDGHA Executive Director Nicki Biggs explains more about The SUCCESS Project in an interview with Comcast's Yolanda Vazquez.

To achieve our goals, TSP partners with other support agencies, non-profits and faith-based organizations that serve the same population and have similar missions.

Our shared core values include:

  • Personal Connection: Facilitating, nurturing, and modeling meaningful one-to-one relationships with each other and the community
  • Inclusivity: Recognizing and respecting the value, worth, dignity and differences of every individual
  • Accountability: Owning one's responsibilities, commitments, and actions
  • Empowerment: Supporting the drive to acquire knowledge, tools & information needed to achieve
  • Opportunity: Believing that personal growth and prosperity are not limited by where someone comes from, how much education they have, or who they know – only by imagination and determination
  • Motivation: Celebrating success, recognizing and rewarding our achievements
  • Respect: Offering mutual understanding and sensitivity while recognizing the importance of diversity
  • Integrity: Maintaining the highest ethical and moral standards – our word is our bond
